hello colleen and dale,
i want to do the commission river business, but i think easy call has even more ways to enhance that success. i’d like to make contact with a person before taking the plunge. i’ve worked in telecommunications and have learned to learn, i’m HIGHLY motivated, but don’t just want to deal with a total online entity. i guess i’m grandma age and still think people make a difference. i love your sites, live in the woods, and need to get successful . hope to heear from you soon. pat
Dear Sir or Madam,
My name is Alexa Hooley, a 21 years old girl that lives in Wasila(AK),
ive just arrived from a year travelling abroad and i met some people that are tour guides around the world. After this experience, im trying to reach my goal of being a tour guide in my place, i saw your fantastic webpage, and i was wondering if we can help each other; me giving the best of myself to learn everything about this fantastic job in this amazing land, and you to give me the necesary knowledge i need to make this happen…
It would be great if u guys think similar to me…
Hope that you are as interested as me and im looking foward to your answer.
Your faithfully.
Alexa Hooley.
Hi Alexa – I don’t think we’ve ever met personally, but aren’t you Stan Hooley’s daughter? Small world, isn’t it? I’ve been volunteering for Iditarod since 1995. I started doing Alaska tours in 1994 and retired after the 2010 season.
The last company I worked with has only 2 guides working for them and the requirements are that they drive a motorcoach as well as have extensive knowledge of Alaska and the Yukon. I started out with Holland America, which has now combined with Princess Tours, and I think that is the best place for anyone to start in the Alaska tour business. They will teach you what you need to know and once you’ve learned the ropes, more options will be open to you. They have both motorcoach driving and tour guide positions and should be starting their training programs in Anchorage soon.
Say hello to your dad for me. I’ll be up for the race in March, so maybe we will get a chance to meet.
Colleen
