Hi Alexa - I don't think we've ever met personally, but aren't you Stan Hooley's daughter? Small world, isn't it? I've been volunteering for Iditarod since 1995. I started doing Alaska tours in 1994 and retired after the 2010 season.

The last company I worked with has only 2 guides working for them and the requirements are that they drive a motorcoach as well as have extensive knowledge of Alaska and the Yukon. I started out with Holland America, which has now combined with Princess Tours, and I think that is the best place for anyone to start in the Alaska tour business. They will teach you what you need to know and once you've learned the ropes, more options will be open to you. They have both motorcoach driving and tour guide positions and should be starting their training programs in Anchorage soon.

Say hello to your dad for me. I'll be up for the race in March, so maybe we will get a chance to meet.

hello colleen and dale,
i want to do the commission river business, but i think easy call has even more ways to enhance that success. i'd like to make contact with a person before taking the plunge. i've worked in telecommunications and have learned to learn, i'm HIGHLY motivated, but don't just want to deal with a total online entity. i guess i'm grandma age and still think people make a difference. i love your sites, live in the woods, and need to get successful . hope to heear from you soon. pat
